Maluti Ingwe FET
Project Name: Ingwe FET – Projects at various Ingwe FET Campuses
Client: Ingwe FET
Project Year: Between 2008 and 2012
Project Value: R 37 600 000.00
Project Description:
Ikamva Architects were initially appointed to prepare master plans for the Ingwe FET at their Ngqungqushe Campus (Lusikisiki) and Maluti Campus (Maluti) as the FET had a number of projects that they wanted to implement but wanted to approach the work in a rational and systematic manner.
Based on these master plans, Ikamva Architects were appointed to carry out the following projects at the Ngqungqushe FET Campus: (R 11 200 000.00)
- Refurbishment of the student residences, including landscaping,
- Conversion of an existing classroom block into a computer and media block,
- Refurbishment of existing classrooms and ablution facilities,
- Conversion of a semi completed building into technical workshops, motor mechanic workshop and classrooms.
The project at the Maluti FET Campus entailed construction of a new computer and media centre, new classroom blocks, ablution facilities and landscaping. (R 8 100 000.00)
Ikamva Architects were also appointed to design new workshops at the Siteto FET Campus in Mbizana, but this project was halted due to lack of funding prior to construction.
(R 5 500 000.00)
Ikamva Architects were also appointed as the architects and principal agents for the new Ingwe FET Administration Block at the Mt Frere Campus. (R 12 800 000.00)
Ingwe FET has campuses in Mt Fletcher, Lusikisiki, Mbizana, Maluti and Mt Frere, but all operations are headed up from the Mt Frere Campus. It therefore became necessary to have a central administration building from which to administer the various campuses.
This project therefore entailed the provision of offices, meeting rooms, reception venues, garages and ancillary spaces to provide for the needs of the combined campuses.
