This project explores the opportunity for well-located and affordable housing within Paarl’s CBD, introducing two new duplex apartment buildings behind an existing heritage-protected structure.  Each apartment is designed with a private outdoor patio or balcony, with generous windows bringing natural light deep into the living spaces. The architectural language draws from Paarl’s established character through contemporary interpretations of gabled roofs, timber pergolas and aluminium shutters.

The site design balances privacy with a sense of community, providing dedicated garages for each residence while a central pedestrian gateway leads into a landscaped shared courtyard, creating a welcoming communal heart to the development.
