The Cofimvaba Vehicle Testing Station is a municipal infrastructure project designed to facilitate efficient, high-volume vehicle roadworthy inspections and testing. Completed in 2016, the facility combines light industrial architecture with a functional administrative wing, featuring a linear, logical flow optimized for vehicle throughput.
The building is divided into two primary zones: the high-volume Testing & Workshop Bay and the adjoining Administrative Wing.
- Main Testing Bay & Workshop: The core of the facility is designed as a single, continuous, linear drive-through testing lane to allow seamless vehicle entry, inspection, and exit without reversing.
- Administrative & Staff Wing: Positioned adjacent to the main testing lane, this low-rise block handles public-facing services, filing, and staff facilities:
The project prioritizes durable, low-maintenance materials suited for high-wear municipal service. A structural steel portal frame system paired with external load-bearing clay face brick walls. This design ensures structural longevity while eliminating the need for frequent maintenance.
